Here's
a short bio edited by Frontiers Records for the release of " Nowhere
Land "
British guitarist
Mike Slamer started his career in the Birmingham based band CITY BOY,
a Progressive / Melodic Rock sextet who debuted with their self-titled
album on Vertigo in 1976. The band enjoyed some success in its home
country and Scandinavia, but the onslaught of Punk Rock suffocated any
further progress and in 1981, after the release of "It's Personal",
CITY BOY decided to call it a day.
Slamer would
then relocate in the USA to form in 1983 the highly rated melodic rock
act STREETS, together with vocalist Steve Walsh who had just left the
hit band KANSAS at the time. Completing the line-up were former QB1
bassist / vocalist Billy Greer and drummer Tim Gehrt.
STREETS recorded
two highly rated studio albums on Atlantic until Steve Walsh and Billy
Greer would join a reformed line-up of KANSAS in 1986 for the release
of the "Power" album.
Slamer then
started working both as session player and as composer with a number
of melodic and hard rock artists in the late eighties. As guitarist
he appeared on both FIONA's 'Heart Like A Gun' and 'Beyond The Pale'
albums. His track 'Dr. Love' is included on the HARDLINE album 'Double
Eclipse' and he is credited as songwriter on HOUSE OF LORDS epic 'Demons
Down' record. He also collaborated with WALL OF SILENCE, WARRANT on
their first two albums "Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich"
and "Cherry Pie" and later with MICHAEL SWEET, JAMES CHRISTIAN
and TOWER CITY in the nineties.
He reappeared
as an active band member playing on and producing two albums with STEELHOUSE
LANE and later with former Manfred Mann's band singer Chris Thompson.
He has recently joined ranks again with former STREETS bandmate Billy
Greer in SEVENTH KEY, playing and co-writing on two studio and one live
cd/DVD release.
Now Mike has
decided to come up with its own name with the aim to release the ultimate
album of his career ! Magnificent producer and immaculate songwriter,
Slamer is joined on the record by none other than the extraordinary
former STRANGEWAYS and THE SIGN singer Terry Brock. The result is nothing
else than a wet dream for all lovers of STEELHOUSE LANE and SEVENTH
KEY with a slight progressive and heavier edge.
